iphone vs. Android: Food Lovers Decide!

mobile ordering restaurant appWhile the Android smart phones may have finally passed Apple’s iphone in overall market share, by nearly 15 percentage points in Q2'11, how do the two compare in the hearts, minds and stomachs of food lovers?   To find out, we took a look at mobile downloads of the Granbury Restaurant Solutions smart phone restaurant ordering app across all our restaurant clients.  From pizza to steak, BBQ to sushi, coffee to salad, iphone users swung the tables the other way, with a 14 point lead over Android in total downloads.

But downloads don’t necessarily mean food is getting into the stomach of these hungry users.  When it comes to actual food orders placed, Android beat the iphone by nearly 5 to 1.  And while mobile ordering continues to rise, with over 10% of orders placed, the overwhelming majority still come from Windows desktop users.

What else sets Android vs. iphone users apart?  This infographic is a fascinating look at their differing traits.
